Mailbox locks
Community mailboxes operated by Canada Post are Canada Post's responsibility, and a locksmith cannot legally work on them — contact Canada Post directly for those. What we can work on is privately owned mailboxes: the ones on houses, on apartment building walls owned by the building, and in commercial lobbies.
Mail theft is a genuine route to identity fraud, and a mailbox with a worn or generic lock is worth upgrading. Many building mailbox banks use very low-grade wafer locks with a small number of key variations across the whole bank.

Opening without damage
Most cabinet and furniture locks are low-security wafer mechanisms and open readily by picking or by bypass, leaving the lock usable. On a piece of furniture with any value that matters, since a drilled lock in an antique desk is a permanent loss.
Where a lock must be destroyed, we replace it with a matching one and can key it to an existing key so you are not carrying yet another.

I lost the key to my filing cabinet. Can you open it?
Yes, and usually without damage. Most cabinet locks are low-security wafer mechanisms that open by picking or bypass in minutes, leaving the lock working. We can then supply new keys or replace the lock, keyed to match your other cabinets if you want one key for the room.
Can several cabinets be keyed to one key?
Yes, and it is a common office request. Cam locks and cabinet locks can be supplied keyed alike so one key covers every cabinet in a room or a floor. Existing locks can often be rekeyed to match rather than replaced.
How much does a mailbox lock replacement cost?
It is one of the smallest jobs we do and priced accordingly. If you have several boxes in a building, doing them in one visit is substantially cheaper per box than separate callouts.
